Returning from their service in the Air Force, two enthusiastic and motivated young pilots started their own company to construct and service swimming pools. Implementing the same culture instilled by their armed forces experiences, Arthur James and Charles Johnson chose the growing community of Monmouth County in which to establish their new venture. The year was 1956, and the swimming pool industry was in its early stages. As the business and demand for quality pools continued to grow, so did the need to implement more efficient and advanced techniques. J & J was there at the forefront, starting with the early concrete block wall structures, then form-and-pour techniques, and implementing the latest technology of shot-crete application. In the early 70’s Elliott Shanley was a sales associate for the J&J company. He later took over ownership of J&J, but the direction remained the same – to continue pioneering the latest technologies in the engineering, installation and maintenance of pools, spas, and water features. Today the second generation of ownership, his son Shane Shanley, runs operations while Elliott directs the sales team. Working together they continue J&J’s tradition of professional, custom aquatic designs and installations, and they are the benchmark for the competition. |
